The world of Lies of P
Lies of P Legion Arms: all 10 arms explained
P holds a weapon in the right hand and fits a machine on the left arm. Here is how Legion Arms work according to the game, what each of the 10 arms does, and how Liesofpdle turns them into a daily puzzle.

A tool for the left arm
The game's tutorial defines a Legion Arm as special equipment fitted on the left arm. Each arm has its own combat ability, and each can be modified into various forms at the Venigni Craft Machine. You can fill more than one Legion Arm slot and switch from one arm to the next.
The name Venigni is everywhere in this system. Venigni Works, the company founded by the inventor Lorenzini Venigni, is best known for its automated puppets but also makes trams and telephones, and the item you need to build a new arm still carries a piece of the company's advertising:
Legion, the resource
Using a Legion Arm costs Legion, a resource with its own gauge: without enough Legion, the arm cannot be used. You refill it with a Legion Magazine, which the game describes as a polymer filling that activates a Legion Arm's specific ability. The description adds that these polymer bullets were developed with Venigni Works and, through a chemical reaction inside the arm, turn into substances such as fire or electricity.
Several items revolve around this resource. The Veteran’s Amulet increases max Legion, the Blue Guardianship Amulet raises max HP, Stamina and Legion, and the Legion Amulet from Overture increases Legion Arm ATK. Some Quartz effects of the P-Organ also lower Legion consumption when HP is low.
Crafting and modifying
New arms are built at the Venigni Craft Machine in Hotel Krat, with a Legion Plug. Existing arms are modified with Legion Calibers, which the game describes as correction devices found only at the Workshop. One amulet goes further: the Triumvirate Amulet raises the ability tier of every Legion Arm by one.
The 10 arms, one by one
Here is what each arm does, paraphrasing its official description:
- Left Arm of Steel: metal left-hand parts that throw strong punches forward.
- Aegis: blocks enemy attacks with the left arm; when it takes a blow, an embedded device explodes and damages the enemy.
- Puppet String: releases a wire that can drag an enemy toward P, or pull P toward the enemy.
- Falcon Eyes: fires armor-piercing shells from a distance, which explode shortly after landing.
- Deus Ex Machina: installs a motion-sensing landmine that explodes when it detects an enemy.
- Flamberge: an arm full of flames that burns the enemies in front of P when its muzzle opens.
- Fulminis: holds powerful electricity, builds up Electric Blitz and discharges an electric shock.
- Pandemonium: fires a sticky acidic substance that leaves a wide pool of acid, corroding enemies who step into it.
- Cataclysm (Overture): stores energy to fire shotgun shells; charging increases its power, but a charged shell is unloaded after a set time.
- Icarus (Overture): launches blades with powerful rotational force, which come back after slicing the enemy.
If you play in French, four names change: Aegis becomes Égide, Puppet String becomes Fil de marionnette, Falcon Eyes becomes Yeux de faucon and Left Arm of Steel becomes Bras gauche en acier. Pandemonium and Cataclysm only gain an accent or a letter (Pandémonium, Cataclysme), and the other four keep their names.
The full table
Type and Mechanic are Liesofpdle's own categories, chosen to describe how each arm is used. Element is the arm's built-in damage type in the game files, Scaling its dominant grade, and ATK its base attack, physical or elemental. DLC tells you whether it comes from Overture.
| Legion Arm | Type | Mechanic | Element | Scaling | ATK | DLC |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Left Arm of SteelBras gauche en acier | Offensive | Strike | None | Balanced | 120 | No |
| AegisÉgide | Defensive | Shield | None | Balanced | 100 | No |
| Puppet StringFil de marionnette | Utility | Grapple | None | Technique | 60 | No |
| Falcon EyesYeux de faucon | Offensive | Shot | None | Technique | 120 | No |
| Deus Ex Machina | Offensive | Trap | None | Motivity | 100 | No |
| Flamberge | Offensive | Throw | Fire | Advance | 40 | No |
| Fulminis | Offensive | Throw | Electric | Balanced | 150 | No |
| PandemoniumPandémonium | Offensive | Throw | Acid | Advance | 50 | No |
| CataclysmCataclysme | Offensive | Shot | None | Motivity | 110 | Yes |
| Icarus | Offensive | Throw | None | Balanced | 100 | Yes |
What the table shows
- Type: eight arms are Offensive. Aegis is the only Defensive arm and Puppet String the only Utility arm.
- Element: three arms have one, matching their descriptions: Flamberge (Fire), Fulminis (Electric) and Pandemonium (Acid). The seven others have none.
- Scaling: Balanced for four arms, then Technique, Motivity and Advance for two arms each. Two of the three elemental arms, Flamberge and Pandemonium, scale with Advance, like every elemental weapon covered in the weapons guide.
- ATK: from 40 (Flamberge) to 150 (Fulminis). Three arms share the same value, 100: Aegis, Deus Ex Machina and Icarus.
- DLC: 2 of the 10 arms come from Overture.
How Legion mode works
In Legion mode, you name an arm and the grid compares it with the answer on six attributes: Type, Mechanic, Element, Scaling, ATK and DLC. Green means the value matches and gray means it differs. ATK is the only numeric column: when it differs, the cell turns gold with an arrow, ↑ if the answer's ATK is higher and ↓ if it is lower. Guesses are unlimited, and a new arm comes up every day at midnight UTC, the same for everyone.
Opening well
With only 10 candidates, a good first guess often settles the puzzle. Liesofpdle's analysis treats every answer as equally likely and measures how many candidates are left after each possible opener. 4 arms tie for first place: Aegis, Falcon Eyes, Icarus, and Left Arm of Steel. Each of them leaves 1.2 candidates on average, and none leaves more than 2. The weakest opener is Puppet String, at 2.0.
The reason lies in the shape of the data. An arm with a one-of-a-kind value, such as Puppet String, the only Utility arm, teaches you little on that column when it misses: the cell comes back gray for every other candidate. The ATK column does most of the sorting, because its arrow splits the list on either side of the value you played. The method behind these numbers is explained in the best first guess guide.
A worked example
Say you open with Aegis and the answer is Fulminis. The grid returns Type gray (Offensive, not Defensive), Mechanic gray, Element gray, Scaling green (both arms are Balanced), ATK gold with ↑ (150 is higher than 100) and DLC green (neither comes from Overture).
Read it column by column. A gray Element means the answer has an element, since Aegis has none: that leaves Flamberge, Fulminis and Pandemonium. A green Scaling means Balanced, and Fulminis is the only Balanced arm of the three. The arrow confirms it, as 150 is above 100. One guess, one candidate left.
Where to go next
The Legion Arms section of the codex lists every arm in English and French, Practice mode lets you play more rounds whenever you like, and the glossary translates Legion, Legion Magazine, Legion Plug and the other terms on this page.
