Quote mode characters
The 16 characters of the Quote mode, their role in a few words and the number of lines each one has among the 802 in the pool.
Who can be the answer
The Quote mode shows a line of dialogue and asks you who said it. The possible answers form three groups: eight residents of Hotel Krat, the safe haven P keeps coming back to, seven characters met out in the field, and one boss. The roles in the table are short and written so as not to give the story away.
How the lines were chosen
Every line comes from the game files and is shown in the language you play in, from the game's own translation. A line is attributed to a character only when two independent sources agree: the dialogue file it comes from, and the speaker field filled in by the developers. Lines that fail this test are left out, even when the speaker seems obvious, so the counts below don't cover everything each character says in the game.
Do the numbers matter?
The Lines column shows how many lines each character has in the pool, and the gap between the most talkative and the quietest is wide. It doesn't change your odds, though: the daily puzzle first picks a character, then one of their lines, so every character has the same chance of being the answer. A character with many lines only makes it less likely that you see the same line twice in Practice.
